Hi {!firstname}, Welcome to the fourth of a five-part series designed to answer your most pressing questions about publishing content through the Internet's largest retail outlet: Amazon! So far we've talked about copyrights, pen names, and getting paid, but there are two big questions remaining, and they both involve money. The first is, how much is this going to cost me? It's a reasonable question. You might remember the old subsidy publishing models, where the author had to pay a pretty steep fee just to see their books in print. Sometimes that fee was in excess of $20,000! Thank goodness for computers and a handy little thing called print on demand. With this model, you don't have to pay for typesetting (it's all digital) or minimum press runs or massive amounts of paper or ink. You only buy exactly what you need. That means it's extremely cost effective to get your book – or anything else – into print these days. Amazon's CreateSpace program is free to join and there are no set-up fees. You will be required to purchase one copy of your book to proof before Amazon will make it available for sale. You can format your book using standard word processing software, but if you're not comfortable doing that, you'll need to hire a VA. You also may choose to hire a designer for the cover, though that's not required. The only other purchase you might choose is getting an ISBN number, but even that is available for free from Amazon. All in all, with a little effort, you can publish your content on Amazon for almost no cost. And since there's very little cost involved, there's also very little risk! Happy Publishing! [SIGNATURE AND LINK] P.S. Now that you see you can publish for next to nothing on Amazon, are you ready to get started? If so, grab a copy of Amazon Navigator.
